There's no one perfect pair of jeans for every body type. Eyewear is no different. There are five basic faces shapes out there, with a lot of in-between. Mix that up with the six different styles we have and that's a lot of different combos. So to help you out, we've come up with some handy tips for you to keep in mind as you shop.

Oval

When it comes to eyeglasses, you've hit the jackpot. This long, rounded face shape allows you to pull off almost any style, especially oversized and wide frames. Square, wayfarer, tortoise, and rectangular… the possibilities are endless. Our only advice is to steer clear of narrow frames and frames with heavy design elements. They might add a bit of unnecessary length to your oval face.

Square

It's hip to be square. And there are so many great pairs of eyeglasses out there to flatter this face shape. When it comes to proportion, square faces are widest along the jaw and forehead. And because this shape is defined by the jawline, glasses that sit high on the nose add length that flatters this face. To draw focus to your strongest features, choose a rounded, rather than angular, frame. Rimless and semi-rimless frames are a great place to start.

Heart-shaped

We'll get straight to the fashion-forward point: base-up-triangle faces are widest at the forehead, with a narrow chin. So, to look your best and brightest, avoid bottom-heavy frames, oversized frames, and frames with a lot of design elements. The goal is to draw attention to the top of the face. If you're looking to soften your angular features, a rimless style is especially flattering.

Triangle

You're even more special than you knew—rain-drop shaped faces are few and far between, so go ahead and flaunt it. This distinctive face shape normally means you've got full cheeks that sit in line with your strong chin. To elongate your face, try an edgy and angular frame for a look that'll add balance.

Round

This face shape was made to rock an angular frame. With a proportion that's relatively equal in width and length, round faces should look to sharp-angled frames to add a little extra definition and depth. Full-rim and semi-rimless frames are great styles to consider.
